..a LoVeR's cOmpLaint..

From off a hill whose concave womb reworded
A plaintful story from a sist'ring vale,
My spirits t'attend this double voice accorded,
And down I laid to list the sad-tuned tale,
Ere long espied a fickle maid full pale,
Tearing of papers, breaking rings atwain,
Storming her world with sorrow's wind and rain.
Upon her head a platted hive of straw,
Which fortified her visage from the sun,
Whereon the thought might think sometime it saw
The carcase of a beauty spent and done.
Time had not scythed all that youth begun,
Nor youth all quit, but spite of heaven's fell rage
Some beauty peeped through lattice of seared age.

Oft did she heave her napkin to her eyne,
Which on it had conceited characters,
Laund'ring the silken figures in the brine
That seasoned woe had pelleted in tears,
And often reading what contents it bears;
As often shrieking undistinguished woe
In clamours of all size, both high and low.

Sometimes her levelled eyes their carriage ride
As they did batt'ry to the spheres intend;
Sometime diverted their poor balls are tied
To th'orbed earth; sometimes they do extend
Their view right on; anon their gazes lend
To every place at once, and nowhere fixed,
The mind and sight distractedly commixed.

Her hair, nor loose nor tied in formal plait,
Proclaimed in her a careless hand of pride;
For some, untucked, descended her sheaved hat,
Hanging her pale and pined cheek beside;
Some in her threaden fillet still did bide,
And, true to bondage, would not break from thence,
Though slackly braided in loose negligence.

A thousand favours from a maund she drew
Of amber, crystal, and of beaded jet,
Which one by one she in a river threw,
Upon whose weeping margent she was set;
Like usury applying wet to wet,
Or monarch's hands that lets not bounty fall
Where want cries some, but where excess begs all.

Of folded schedules had she many a one,
Which she perused, sighed, tore, and gave the flood;
Cracked many a ring of posied gold and bone,
Bidding them find their sepulchres in mud;
Found yet moe letters sadly penned in blood,
With sleided silk feat and affectedly
Enswathed and sealed to curious secrecy.

These often bathed she in her fluxive eyes,
And often kissed, and often 'gan to tear;
Cried "O false blood, thou register of lies,
What unapproved witness dost thou bear!
Ink would have seemed more black and damned here!"
This said, in top of rage the lines she rents,
Big discontent so breaking their contents.

A reverend man that grazed his cattle nigh,
Sometime a blusterer that the ruffle knew
Of court, of city, and had let go by
The swiftest hours observed as they flew,
Towards this afflicted fancy fastly drew,
And, privileged by age, desires to know
In brief the grounds and motives of her woe.

So slides he down upon his grained bat,
And comely distant sits he by her side,
When he again desires her, being sat,
Her grievance with his hearing to divide.
If that from him there may be aught applied
Which may her suffering ecstasy assuage,
'Tis promised in the charity of age.

"Father," she says "though in me you behold
The injury of many a blasting hour,
Let it not tell your judgement I am old:
Not age, but sorrow over me hath power.
I might as yet have been a spreading flower,
Fresh to myself, if I had self-applied
Love to myself, and to no love beside.

"But, woe is me! too early I attended
A youthful suit -it was to gain my grace -
O, one by nature's outwards so commended
That maidens' eyes stuck over all his face.
Love lacked a dwelling and made him her place;
And when in his fair parts she did abide
She was new-lodged and newly deified.

"His browny locks did hang in crooked curls,
And every light occasion of the wind
Upon his lips their silken parcels hurls.
What's sweet to do, to do will aptly find:
Each eye that saw him did enchant the mind,
For on his visage was in little drawn
What largeness thinks in Paradise was sawn.

"Small show of man was yet upon his chin;
His phoenix down began but to appear,
Like unshorn velvet, on that termless skin,
Whose bare outbragged the web it seemed to wear;
Yet showed his visage by that cost more dear,
And nice affections wavering stood in doubt
If best were as it was, or best without.

"His qualities were beauteous as his form,
For maiden-tongued he was, and thereof free;
Yet, if men moved him, was he such a storm
As oft twixt May and April is to see,
When winds breathe sweet, unruly though they be.
His rudeness so with his authorized youth
Did livery falseness in a pride of truth.

"Well could he ride, and often men would say
`That horse his mettle from his rider takes:
Proud of subjection, noble by the sway,
What rounds, what bounds, what course, what stop he makes!'
And controversy hence a question takes,
Whether the horse by him became his deed,
Or he his manage by th' well-doing steed.

"But quickly on this side the verdict went:
His real habitude gave life and grace
To appertainings and to ornament,
Accomplished in himself, not in his case.
All aids, themselves made fairer by their place,
Came for additions; yet their purposed trim
Pieced not his grace, but were all graced by him.

"So on the tip of his subduing tongue
All kind of arguments and question deep,
All replication prompt, and reason strong,
For his advantage still did wake and sleep.
To make the weeper laugh, the laugher weep,
He had the dialect and different skill,
Catching all passions in his craft of will,

"That he did in the general bosom reign
Of young, of old, and sexes both enchanted,
To dwell with him in thoughts, or to remain
In personal duty, following where he haunted.
Consents bewitched, ere he desire, have granted,
And dialogued for him what he would say,
Asked their own wills, and made their wills obey.

"Many there were that did his picture get
To serve their eyes, and in it put their mind;
Like fools that in th'imagination set
The goodly objects which abroad they find
Of lands and mansions, theirs in thought assigned,
And labour in moe pleasures to bestow them
Than the true gouty landlord which doth owe them.

"So many have, that never touched his hand,
Sweetly supposed them mistress of his heart.
My woeful self, that did in freedom stand,
And was my own fee-simple, not in part,
What with his art in youth, and youth in art,
Threw my affections in his charmed power,
Reserved the stalk and gave him all my flower.

"Yet did I not, as some my equals did,
Demand of him, nor being desired yielded;
Finding myself in honour so forbid,
With safest distance I mine honour shielded.
Experience for me many bulwarks builded
Of proofs new-bleeding, which remained the foil
Of this false jewel and his amorous spoil.

"But ah, who ever shunned by precedent
The destined ill she must herself assay?
Or forced examples 'gainst her own content
To put the by-past perils in her way?
Counsel may stop awhile what will not stay,
For when we rage, advice is often seen
By blunting us to make our wills more keen.

"Nor gives it satisfaction to our blood
That we must curb it upon others' proof,
To be forbod the sweets that seems so good
For fear of harms that preach in our behoof.
O appetite, from judgement stand aloof!
The one a palate hath that needs will taste,
Though reason weep, and cry `It is thy last'.

"For further I could say this man's untrue,
And knew the patterns of his foul beguiling;
Heard where his plants in others' orchards grew;
Saw how deceits were gilded in his smiling;
Knew vows were ever brokers to defiling;
Thought characters and words merely but art,
And bastards of his foul adulterate heart.

"And long upon these terms I held my city,
Till thus he 'gan besiege me: `Gentle maid,
Have of my suffering youth some feeling pity,
And be not of my holy vows afraid.
That's to ye sworn to none was ever said;
For feasts of love I have been called unto,
Till now did ne'er invite nor never woo.

" `All my offences that abroad you see
Are errors of the blood, none of the mind;
Love made them not; with acture they may be,
Where neither party is nor true nor kind.
They sought their shame that so their shame did find;
And so much less of shame in me remains
By how much of me their reproach contains.

" `Among the many that mine eyes have seen,
Not one whose flame my heart so much as warmed,
Or my affection put to th' smallest teen,
Or any of my leisures ever charmed.
Harm have I done to them, but ne'er was harmed;
Kept hearts in liveries, but mine own was free,
And reigned commanding in his monarchy.

" `Look here what tributes wounded fancies sent me
Of pallid pearls and rubies red as blood,
Figuring that they their passions likewise lent me
Of grief and blushes, aptly understood
In bloodless white and the encrimsoned mood -
Effects of terror and dear modesty,
Encamped in hearts, but fighting outwardly.

" `And lo, behold these talents of their hair,
With twisted metal amorously impleached,
I have received from many a several fair,
Their kind acceptance weepingly beseeched,
With the annexions of fair gems enriched,
And deep-brained sonnets that did amplify
Each stone's dear nature, worth, and quality.

" `The diamond? -why, 'twas beautiful and hard,
Whereto his invised properties did tend;
The deep-green em'rald, in whose fresh regard
Weak sights their sickly radiance do amend;
The heaven-hued sapphire and the opal blend
With objects manifold: each several stone,
With wit well blazoned, smiled or made some moan.
" `Lo, all these trophies of affections hot,
Of pensived and subdued desires the tender,
Nature hath charged me that I hoard them not,
But yield them up where I myself must render -
That is to you, my origin and ender;
For these, of force, must your oblations be,
Since I their altar, you enpatron me.

" `O then advance of yours that phraseless hand,
Whose white weighs down the airy scale of praise.
Take all these similes to your own command,
Hallowed with sighs that burning lungs did raise.
What me your minister, for you obeys,
Works under you, and to your audit comes
Their distract parcels in combined sums.

" `Lo, this device was sent me from a nun,
A sister sanctified, of holiest note,
Which late her noble suit in court did shun,
Whose rarest havings made the blossoms dote;
For she was sought by spirits of richest coat,
But kept cold distance, and did thence remove
To spend her living in eternal love.

" `But, O my sweet, what labour is't to leave
The thing we have not, mast'ring what not strives,
Planing the place which did no form receive,
Playing patient sports in unconstrained gyves!
She that her fame so to herself contrives,
The scars of battle scapeth by the flight,
And makes her absence valiant, not her might.

" `O pardon me, in that my boast is true!
The accident which brought me to her eye
Upon the moment did her force subdue,
And now she would the caged cloister fly:
Religious love put out religion's eye.
Not to be tempted, would she be immured,
And now to tempt, all liberty procured.

" `How mighty then you are, O hear me tell!
The broken bosoms that to me belong
Have emptied all their fountains in my well,
And mine I pour your ocean all among.
I strong o'er them, and you o'er me being strong,
Must for your victory us all congest,
As compound love to physic your cold breast.

" `My parts had power to charm a sacred nun,
Who, disciplined, ay, dieted in grace,
Believed her eyes when they t'assail begun,
All vows and consecrations giving place.
O most potential love! -vow, bond, nor space,
In thee hath neither sting, knot, nor confine,
For thou art all, and all things else are thine.

" `When thou impressest, what are precepts worth
Of stale example? When thou wilt inflame,
How coldly those impediments stand forth,
Of wealth, of filial fear, law, kindred, fame!
Love's arms are peace, 'gainst rule, 'gainst sense, 'gainst shame;
And sweetens, in the suff'ring pangs it bears,
The aloes of all forces, shocks, and fears.

" `Now all these hearts that do on mine depend,
Feeling it break, with bleeding groans they pine,
And supplicant their sighs to you extend,
To leave the batt'ry that you make 'gainst mine,
Lending soft audience to my sweet design,
And credent soul to that strong-bonded oath
That shall prefer and undertake my troth.'

"This said, his wat'ry eyes he did dismount,
whose sights till then were levelled on my face;
Each cheek a river running from a fount
With brinish current downward flowed apace.
O how the channel to the stream gave grace!
Who glazed with crystal gate the glowing roses
That flame through water which their hue encloses.

"O father, what a hell of witchcraft lies
In the small orb of one particular tear!
But with the inundation of the eyes
What rocky heart to water will not wear?
What breast so cold that is not warmed here?
O cleft effect! Cold modesty, hot wrath,
Both fire from hence and chill extincture hath.

"For lo, his passion, but an art of craft,
Even there resolved my reason into tears;
There my white stole of chastity I daffed,
Shook off my sober guards and civil fears;
Appear to him as he to me appears,
All melting; though our drops this diff'rence bore:
His poisoned me, and mine did him restore.

"In him a plenitude of subtle matter,
Applied to cautels, all strange forms receives,
Of burning blushes or of weeping water,
Or swooning paleness; and he takes and leaves,
In either's aptness, as it best deceives,
To blush at speeches rank, to weep at woes,
Or to turn white and swoon at tragic shows,

"That not a heart which in his level came
Could scape the hail of his all-hurting aim,
Showing fair nature is both kind and tame;
And, veiled in them, did win whom he would maim.
Against the thing he sought he would exclaim;
When he most burned in heart-wished luxury
He preached pure maid and praised cold chastity.

"Thus merely with the garment of a grace
The naked and concealed fiend he covered,
That th'unexperient gave the tempter place,
Which like a cherubin above them hovered.
Who, young and simple, would not be so lovered?
Ay me, I fell; and yet do question make
What I should do again for such a sake.

"O, that infected moisture of his eye,
O, that false fire which in his cheek so glowed,
O, that forced thunder from his heart did fly,
O, that sad breath his spongy lungs bestowed,
O, all that borrowed motion, seeming owed,
Would yet again betray the fore-betrayed,
And new pervert a reconciled maid."

..the dark paSsenGer..

" I've lived in darkness a long time.
Over the years my eyes adjusted until the dark
became my world and I could see. "

..my dark paSsenGer..

I just know there's something dark in me. I hide it. Certainly don't talk about it. But, it's there. Always. This... Dark Passenger. How when he's driving, I feel... alive. Half-sick with the thrill, complete wrongness. I don't fight him. I don't want to. He's all I've got. Nothing else could love me, not even... especially not me. Or is that just a lie the Dark Passenger tells me? Because, lately, there are these moments that I feel connected to something else. Someone. It's like... the mask is slipping, and things, people, that never mattered before, are suddenly starting to matter. It scares the hell out of me. But I hope it doesn't scare the hell out of you.

..First Leaders and Student Organizations Summit..

..iamaleader.iamacarolinian..

"Striving for excellence is an act of faith.
God is not honored nor glorified with mediocrity."

Day 1

I can only but begin to tackle the enormous task of defining in words the kind of feeling that is coursing through my veins, as I made my way home fresh from the conclusion of the First Leaders and Student Organizations Summit brought to us by the University of San Carlos-Supreme Student Council. For I find the feeling definitely out of the context of definable literature, except in the strictest sense that it is the medium by which such emotions are communicated. Having said such, I try as I might to put it in tangible and readable terms not only to create an accurate representation of the sentiment that I keep, but also to create a existing written manifestation for the events that had passed and my existence and disposition to such events and situations. This is not only dedicated for me and my fading memory, but it is also in memory of all the inspirational speakers, exceptional officers, and the first batch participants, who in one way or another share a similar if not the same sentiment and emotion with regards to the event and how that event has molded deep within us the identity of the kind of leaders and the indivisible bond we keep that are the products of such an event.

T'is dedicated to all who became;
my constructive instrument of change,

my new-found acquaintances of a lifetime,
and my genuine inspiration for transformation.

Initially, in its gathering of participants time-frame, the event had little significance and minimal influence over me. I was only but another busy officer tending to the multitude of my responsibilities as I was, and had not given attention to the kind of 'leader' I was nor importance to my growth as such. Or I may have paid little attention, but in the end I was not willed to better understand and identify as to what the event was all about and all other details concerned with it. It even reached a point when I was totally passive and negligent of whatever details and information was disseminated about the event to a point that the idea of the event starts to fade and becomes vague in my perception. I really came that much as close to not being there, and writing about an experience that I would have exchanged for nothing else. It took a blessing in the from of my colleagues and friends for me to have just brushed that thin line between being one of us, and someone totally unaware of our existence, and in doing so has inculcated me as to how blessed and beloved I am to have been there.

I could actually imagine what I would have been doing had I not joined,
but now that I did, I couldn't see myself doing anything else then.

..my C.L.S.O.S. Kit/ Memorabilia..

Simply defining and looking at leadership and the pillars and person that personify such from a distance is genuinely different than living with and within the confines and realms of leadership manifested in yourself and the people around you. And amidst the presence of such discrete and diverse set of individuals that have their very own definition and principles of leadership, one can truly realize and look at one's own and begin to juxtapose it with others, and in so doing creates a network of ideas and principles that became the atmosphere of the first ever Carolinian Leaders and Student Organizations Summit 2008. Individuals coming from different student organizations and groups with their own beliefs and niches towards leadership acquainting with each other, creating a vague but clearing picture of what was to come, one that I myself was naively unknowing and totally unprepared for. The journey of the summit was an adventure, one that is heart-kept in memories.

An adventure worth blogging and sharing about.

Though I actually wanted to beautify much of the events using false pretenses and desperate attempts at poetry, I came to realize that the events past are in themselves beautiful and self-transforming. Ok, maybe coming early and asking the teacher where the Buchcik Hall was, and having mispronounced it very well, isn't such a beautiful event but nonetheless it made me learn a few things. Like for one, I don't really know much about the geography of the south campus, nor the proper diction as to which such of its buildings are to be said. And another, that it is never a crime nor a shame to ask someone something you have totally no idea of, because in the end that's most likely the way you're going to find out. I'm just really lucky to have been there early, as I had already predicted getting lost and wandering around looking for a building I never expected would be where it was. But I found it and made my way to the Buchcik Hall, still don't know how to pronounce it.

I actually pronounced it as Boo-chi-kik
that made the teacher I was asking laugh.

The arriving, registering, by-standing, and waiting for the others was for me an opportunity and a way to get to 'preview' a preview of whatever or whoever the people I'm going to be with in this two-day summit. Though we were actually fewer than I had thought or expected, most of the participants arrived just in time as the first activity would start. And an icebreaker it was as we got to enjoy the joys and pains of following funny and whatever it was we were told to do not only for the sake of breaking the ice, but having a good time that paved way for a good start of the activity. Another plus was the Human Bingo game that we played, although I couldn't imagine how we could have done it if we were more than the number of participants already there. It was great getting to thicken your face a little asking others if they knew how to sun dance or ate kwek-kwek or has two cellphones or the one I signed most for, knows an Erap joke, which became my summit social introduction.

Well, it wasn't the most funny of all Erap jokes
but I'm sure it was one of the corniest,

considering that I said it.

Talk 1 was about 'Leadership Bare Essentials', which was a timely and well-placed topic in the set of different topics to be discussed and experienced throughout the summit. Defining Leadership and all the large and small-scale details about and within it paints the backdrop to which our ideas and principles towards leadership are to be placed in for refining and transforming. With it was also our first group activity, where we got to merge with the others in groups and discuss about our ideal leader, and for our group as I am proud to say and announce it, was Jesus Christ. A transcending embodiment and everlasting depictment of what leadership is and the legacy by which such leadership is made known by mind and most importantly be heart. Followed by Talk 2 the '18 challenges of Leadership' which bleached and stained our leadership portrait with the realizties and facts of the anomalies and circumstances that face us in painting our very own art of leadership.

Leadership is the ability to influence other people to be better toward the attainment of goals.
The right to lead is not gained by election or appointment, by age, title, rank, nor position;
but contrary to popular belief, the true and genuine right to lead can only be earned.

After Talk 1 and 2, I had my very first experience of a 'coffee break', even though I actually didn't drink any coffee but instead munched my way into pure milo goodness. Which actually got me into the limelight for a while when the organizer of the event took my picture while I was biting away at a closed pack of milo, as I while show later. I couldn't have been more prepared for Talk 3, having my bladder empty and my stomach full that is. Talk 3 was for me the best talk of them all, considering that it took a fully written page to sum up everything that I learned, realized, and instilled in me throughout the talk. It was about 'Creating Your Own Brand of Leadership' with my new-found idol Mrs. Sol, and it became to me a turning point towards my outlook of leaderhsip and my own brand of it. I could have stayed there for forever and listened away at her talk, because not only was it transformative and inspirational, it was witty and timely which for me was perfect.

Always remember; To whom much is given, much is expected in return.
Never forget; There is nothing worthwhile in life that comes easy.

Having slept my way through lunch, I still longed for another lesson at Branding 101, which was Mrs. Sol's way of defining her talk. I still wanted to hear more from her, to be inspired, to be changed. It was a great talk, but it is true that many great things come to an end. Furthermore, they come to an end in order to pave way for a new beginning, and that beginning was for our Talk 4 which was all about 'Win-Win Solutions'. A radically new way of looking and creating solutions for problems facing us day to day. With all those acronyms to guide us, we will eventually be able to use and live with the win-win idea in our living. Then we had our case study which brought our color coded grouping together, thus giving birth to the group 'In the Flesh'. After a barrage of discussions and planning we had our case-study presentation that was both enriching and fun as we had a great time presenting and watching. Then we had our Day 1 pictorials which brought the day to a wonderful close.

You can't be everything to everyone;

..in the Flesh Group..

But you can become your thoughts,

..Day 1 participants group pictorials..

and you can become your friends.

..HAPPY AM I TO BE A CHEERDANCER..

HAPPY AM I TO BE bestowed with the cherished realization of the unbounded reality of the inconsolable fact that for each and every act or task you do with all the passion and dedication of your heart may and for most cases will actually make such a part of your heart as much as the what you have poured into it..

for the passion that burns in your heart and the dedication that flourishes in your actions conjugates and becomes a part of that which you are giving to and in equal return becomes a part of your heart and from a part of your life and lifestyle which is made manifest in your character and attitude as your identity..

and that identity becomes a name to be held with and more importantly a name to be lived with as we make our traverse amidst a world where who you are and the predicament where your identity is made known is a treasure in itself and a gift that you must carry and uphold as to what you are and who you are..

i am a cheerdancer..a cheerdancer is what i am..by body (bruised and injured).,by mind (stressed and nose-bled).,and by heart (fully engraved and embedded)..

it is an existence that i have lived for the past few months and within that short and long expanse of time a lot of happenings and moments have passed me by.,

bittersweet memories of by-standing in the lobby waiting for the others.,fooling off and getting along with those who have arrived.,worrying about the attendance of people late and not there.,very hot and sexy warm-up exercises.,spending weekdays and weekends with practice despite exams and tasks.,up going lifting-dancing practice until very deep into the night.,refreshing and cooling water breaks by the fountain.,having talks and discussions after a tiring practice.,and just enjoying their company at the end of the day..

such memories brings tears of joy and sadness.,how grand and great were those moments one we can and will surely call good times spent with the very people you have become used to and the very individuals you have become one with as a group as a team as a family where we find our happiness and at the same time brings about a brief sadness knowing that it wont be till along time from now that we can experience and share such times with them once again..it won't be till a year from now that we can experience a brand new adventure with them..

but then again i come to realize.,because of the very reason that brings that happiness and sadness to me can also be the very reason why i can be genuinely happy without being sad.,the fact that such events happened and are to happen in the future with the people that you have come to love being with is in itself a happy thought.,and still that bond you have made will be kept forth so long..the fact that i am with these cherished memories.,the fact that i am with these great friends.,and the fact that i am A CHEERDANCER..
